Has anyone else had trouble with ebay regarding plus membership being cancelled by ebay?

Has anyone had a similar issue to this with eaby? Ebay automatically deducted $48.99 from my paypal account for ebay plus membership renewal and then within a couple of weeks they said it was cancelled. They tried to say that I cancelled it, which is not true as it would be crazy to pay for it and then cancel it. After an online chat with them they agreed to refund the payment to me but said that I would need to add my bank account details to my ebay account for the payout to be made. I tried doing that, but it keeps coming up with an error message. I have since had a few online chats and phone conversations with them to try to fix it. Each ebay representative says something completely different from the previous one and still the issue doesn't get fixed. To top it off and add to their poor customer service each time they don't want to continue to try to fix it they say that they are passing me over to a different department only to hang up on me. I am beyond frustrated with them. They have basically made a token gesture by saying that they will refund my payment, but they won't allow me to have access to my own money! How many other people have they done this to? they must be making a fortune. Their customer service representatives seem to try to make things so hard that you just give up and it's that hard to contact them in the first place. Also, they use American terms in regard to bank accounts saying things like what is the ACH routing number for the bank (which I had to google to find out it's called a BSB number here) They kept telling me that I need to open a checking account with my bank as they don't accept every day or savings accounts on ebay which is rubbish as I have another ebay account that has my savings account linked to it. I said that we don't call them checking accounts here, that is the American version of a savings account which she said that I'm wrong, but I checked with my bank today and they said I'm right. So, if anyone else has had the same issue I'd love to hear if you were able to get it fixed.

It is well known on these forums that CS reps are mostly useless. I don't think it is possible to have phone conversations with them if you are with Australia Ebay as the call centre has been shut for several years. However, it sounds like you were able to call the US based centre, which is operational and is why they were talking about routing numbers etc. 

I agree that it shouldn't be this hard. 

How was the subscription funded? Did you use a credit card through PayPal, or just PayPal?

What phone number did you call?

It seems to me you have logged into eBay USA instead of eBay Australia site. 

That aside, if you already have a bank account linked to your eBay account, then why muck around adding another one just for a refund? 

And lastly, if you were willing to renew eBay Plus for another 12mths, which is obvious since you didn’t cancel the subscription before the renewal date (😉😉), then why not just ask eBay to reinstate it??? 🤔

My spidey senses are tingling here…. Something not quite adding up 🤔

Very interesting, that would explain the using of the routing number stuff etc. although I did mention to the eBay person that I live in Australia several times. I did not know that the call centre in Australia closed but this is odd then as I requested on the eBay website that they call me and the first time they called it was a Sydney number and then the other times it came up as no called ID. I wonder how a Sydney number came up on my phone if they closed the call centre here???  So, when they took the money out of my PayPal account it was taken out of funds that I had in the account.

I'm definitely on the Australian site and even during the phone conversations I have mentioned several times that I'm in Australia. When they said that I couldn't link a savings account to my eBay account to be able to get my refund I said I have another eBay account that I have been able to link the savings account to which the eBay rep responded "that isn't possible as you can't link a savings account to your eBay account, we only accept checking accounts" I then asked her what country she was calling from which she wouldn't answer so said to her I was only asking as she was using a lot of American terms and I said again I'm Australian and your using words that have a different meaning in Australia as compared with the US. She seemed rather annoyed after that and told me that I was wrong, and she was right. And yes, if they just reinstate my eBay plus membership then problem solved but they won't do that either! Something is definitely not right but what I don't know 🤔
