Why ebay only refund part of my payment???

I bought an item on 10 Apr, 2019 which the seller is in China, and the seller sent the item to another person at BOTANY NSW. I contacted Australia Post, and was told wrong person and wrong address, and it should be done purposely by seller.

I paid this $71.50 via ebay gift card. I opened a case (case id 5198543368), but ebay only refund $65. So I lose $6.50.

I contacted ebay for four times,

1. online chat on 4-May, was told, it will be done shortly.

2. online chat on 12-May, Daizy from account team said, I have to contact ATO for $6.50 refund.

3. call ebay on 13-May, was told, ebay will investigate the case, and let me know in one day.

4. nothing happened, call ebay on 14-May again, was told, all refund has been done, but I only can see $65.

I was told to contact Paypal all time, but I paid via ebay gift card, nothing about Paypal.

I knew the balance of ebay gift card all time, otherwise the ebay staff just says refund already in your ebay gift card, and we cannot see the transaction history.

Why ebay only refund part of my payment???

Your total was probably $65 and then you paid 10% GST.

If it is some time after the sale then eBay may already have remitted your 10% GST to the ATO.

I would call the ATO and see what they say.

If the amount is GST you do not contact the ATO.....it has to be paid to you by ebay as they are the entity who took it from you and remittted it to the ATO.

I believe you will find that the Botany address is a logistics company.....a lot of Chinese sellers use these companies.  The goods are shipped in bulk and dispatched to buyers from there.

 ebay has not done full refund yet, and no any progress.

Have you contacted eBay and/or PayPal again? and have you spoken to a supervisor? 

Do any of the things mentioned in the replies given above apply?

I contacted eBay for 4 times, and nothong about paypal becuase I paid via ebay gift card.

This is my ebay gift card transaction record,

$96.79 on 08-Apr
$25.29 on 10-Apr (paid $71.50)
$17.04 on 23-Apr (Bought another item for $8.25)
$82.04 on 11-May (ebay refund $65)
$44.68 on 15-May (Bought another item for $37.36)

Nothing changed, and ebay just closed the case, and said fully refund. Bull**bleep**!

I give up.

For $6.50, already waste too much time, I just learnt a lesson for $6.50 from ebay, and just avoid transaction on ebay in the future.

Fair enough, eBay is not for everyone

Did you check under both your usernames?

I have only one paypal account, and I checked all my ebay account, and my paypal account.

Nothing any account.

Called paypal, and was told they will investigate, still nothing happen. I do not expect anything because paypal is same procedure as ebay.

I contact Fair Trading, and Fair Trading going back to ebay.

In the beginning ebay told Fair Trading all have been resovled.

Second, ebay told Fair Trading ebay has not refund GST, and sent me email with same thing.

One week later, ebay close the case again without doing refund. I have to go back to Fair trading.
