Someone smarter than me may be along to decipher.
Why not state exactly what happened?... without your usual turn of phrase.
Sounds like you have entered into an off eBay transaction & are being set up for a scam.

Hmmm... Why would he say that he usually uses Facebook or Gumtree but wanted to try eBay if he has feedback and is not new to eBay? And buyers can only have positive feedback by the way (or is he also a seller)? Strange he would ask to send the item and pay after inspection (this is not even allowed on eBay), but then he did pay, right?
Yes, that message about funds on hold is from eBay and applies to all sellers who don't sell regularly, so that is true, but the buyer does sound a bit suspicious to me.
I am not a seller, so I will let other sellers give you some advice based on experience,
Just make sure if you do send the item that it has a tracking number. Take a pic of the serial number of the phone too, just in case the buyer is a scammer, claims the phone is broken and then sends you back his phone...

Maybe you should actually add the serial number to the listing, just in case the buyer is indeed a scammer and then says it is a pic of another phone...

papermoon... no listings or sold showing on the OP's a/c... think it is an off eBay scam attempt.

Wait - just to clarify - "Buyer" is telling you to send and if happy THEN you'll get your money if they're satisfied?
Ummm......that not how this works.
The whole thing screams scam to me.
Please don't tell us that you are this clueless about selling in general.

OP's a/c is 2 days old - they could be selling under a different ID??

That's exactly what I thought, but I just tried the item number and didn't find it in an advanced search for sold or completed listings (if I didn't mistype it because I could not copy and paste from the screenshots)?
The OP though posted a screenshot of the eBay message telling him the buyer had paid but the funds were on hold?

too many questions here....if the OP goes AWOL, they've either been caught/shafted or it's a windup

You haven't explained properly what has happened. Instead of taking endless screenshots, you should simply describe the situation, without the juvenile potty-mouth.
1. Apparently you joined eBay just days ago after having previously sold on Gumtree and Facebook - is that the case?
2. The item you wanted to sell is an iPhone, one of the most scam-prone items of all. As a new seller, without any obvious eBay experience, without knowing how eBay works, you should not be listing an expensive item. Did you know that eBay will hold your money? If you wish to sell on eBay, dip your toes in the water and list a few inexpensive items to become acquainted with how it all works. In particular, list pick-up only items while you are shiny and new.
3. Read through eBay’s help pages. You can’t plunge into selling here without knowing for what you’ve signed up. There are strict timelines and procedures that will by and large protect you - if you follow them.
4. COD is a delivery method offered by Australia Post. It isn’t escrow and doesn’t work the way your “buyer” described. It’s not the same as cash on pickup (COP) although it seems to be confused by some as being the same thing. Unless you really want to offer it, it’s not offered by default and the buyer cannot demand it.
5. The “buyer” appears to be a hijacked account. It should be reported to eBay.
6. Again, what is with the crude swearing? And why on earth would you go to Reddit ask about an eBay selling issue? That is bizarre.
I’ll leave it at that, unless/until you return to answer point 1 and actually confirm what’s happened. For instance, did you actually send the item or are you asking what to do next?
