cancelling a request to seller

When a purchase does not arrive some time after the maximum timeframe given, a request is sent to the seller who agrees to send another item in replacement and asks that the request be first cancelled, which eBay advise means that the request cannot be re-opened, what insurance does the buyer have that a replacement item will arrive? There is then no guarantee for the buyer of any further action through eBay, is there? This would be the same in the case of a refund, wouldn't it? No guarantee once the case is closed?

cancelling a request to seller

Best place to start is for a buyer to not buy from  sellers who is registered in China with dozen and dozens of neg feedback that say items were not sent

Buyers should NOT close any case until the 'replacement' has arrived, despite what the seller says/claims. A case does not have to be closed before the seller sends a replacement, this is simply another tactic used by said sellers

Ebay give buyers all the protection under the sun, BUT if a buyers chooses to be strung along etc ..............

Plus, not to mention, that is why it is important to pay via Paypal. Even MORE buyer protection and they give you up to 6 months to open a dispute
