payment wouldn't accept voucher that was texted to me

I received a voucher of $40 from ebay with 10 minutes to use it.  I can't read and write and I tried to enter the voucher in within the time limit but it wouldn't accept it.  My mate is writing this note now on his account

More information needed.

What was the voucher for ?  A discount from the seller or eBay ?

I've never heard of a voucher that has to be used within 10 minutes. Or did you only see it when there was 10 minutes left on the offer ?

I have never heard of vouchers to be used within 10 minutes... Are you sure it was a legitimate email and not a phishing email? I mean, it might be possible, but I have never heard of such vouchers...

Be very careful that it's not a phishing message. Don't click on any links.

That was my first thought too, padi (in the other/duplicate thread).

Yes, on the surface it sounds very much like a scam. The ten minute thing does not sound right for a real voucher

Is your voucher in your eBay summary? Legitimate vouchers are usually there too, I think next to "orders", even after expiring (in this case it says "expired"). The amount sounds a bit suspicious too (a bit too high). The only voucher for $40 is if you join eBay Plus (the paid membership),

Never heard of a 10 minute voucher. Scammers try to get you to act quickly before you've had a chance to think things through, especially if they encourage you to click on the link in the message. Why would Paypal send you a voucher to use within 10 minutes on Ebay? I mean, think about it......

This has all the hallmarks of a scam. When you hover over the sender ID, does it look legitimate?

Scam messages might have the first part looking ok, but the address ends up being something like a string of random letters and numbers.

If you've clicked on the link, I think you're stuffed.
