9ct rodd

Hi does anyone know if 9ct rodd  is the real deal or is this plated/rolled gold etc.  I've heard so many stories.  I do know Rodd was a jeweller in Australia 1930s.  The item is a gold ring marked 9ct rodd.

After nearly 6 YEARS, I imagine the OP is no longer concered about their item or have already figured out that it's a term for plated gold jewellery.
