Can I use my wife credit card .I dont have paypal, never use it before,if yes how to start purchase

Hi , I never had a paypal account ,nor used a credit to buy on ebay.My question is can I use my wife credit card to purchase on ebay Australia, and how to start the purchase,does this need to register on paypal or not.
