Can a buyer put me on an unpaid list because I refused to pay through a bank deposit? This was not stated in the ad and I only trust paypal.

I agreed to buy an item and then recieved a message from the buyer saying it had to be a bank deposit as he didn't have paypal. When I replyed stating I only use paypal and to cancel my buy as he didn't state this in the ad he then replyed to say he now had paypal( I found this a bit suss). He has now put in an unpaid order request. Was I within my rights to refuse the payment method as it wasn't stated in the ad??
