Clutted pages of plants, bulbs, seeds, etc from Foreign listers.

We all know that plants, bulbs & seeds are not allowed to be imported from Foreign countries. So why dose Ebay allow Foreign listings to clutter the pages. Im sick and tired of having to scan through the listings to find an Australian seller?

No, most of us know that plants can be imported from many foreign countries.

Local sellers have just as many restrictions selling within Australia.....many states will not allow plant matter to cross their borders.

I have a friend who has a magnificent tropical garden containing many imported plants.

Instead of complaining about ebay doing the wrong thing I suggest you read the AQIS website to see what you can import and under what conditions such as permits, correct labelling by the seller etc.

I know several people who regularly import plants and seeds (not necessarily on ebay) and they have commented that the sellers they deal with are very familiar with the conditions of selling to Australia.  I have no reason to think the ebay sellers are not similarly familiar.

It is up to the buyer to know the rules of importing, not the seller to know all the rules from every country. Generally you can see without going into the listing whether plant material is coming from Australia or not, otherwise, yes, you will have to do your due dilligence and go into every listing.

Yes, there are many species of seed that are allowed to be imported, and many plants can be imported as long as the buy has the money to have them go through the quarantine process.

Try using the 'distance' function to find seeds and plants in your area or state which may help with your problem.
