How can I be outbid by a few dollars when I am the only one bidding?

I was bidding and instantly, after each bid, I was outbid by a few dollars. I checked the list of the 10 bidders, and found that I was the last 4 bids, and the only other bidder was the first 6 bids. I want to know whether I can retract my bids on this basis?

If you are out bid as soon as you place your bid then that means the current highest bidder has an amount higher than the max amount you enter.

So enter the highest amount you are willing to pay and if you are out bid then another is willing to pay more.

And no that is NOT a reason to retract you bid at all.

The highest bidder wins is how it works.
