I am trying to bid on an item but for some reason it automatically goes up and I get outbid. Why?

When I bid it automatically goes up and when I check the history it shows some automatic bid thing. How can I do that or try counter their bids? It ends in 10 hours

Most likely one of the bidders put in their 'highest bid' on the item

100% normal and on the level

If you keep on bidding you are only going to keep pushing the price up until you outbid their highest bid
