I'm pretty sure I have been scammed! What can I do? :(

Hey guys, i already know that i've made a terrible mistake and should have read ebay's policy first! I am definately going to learn from this so please don't try and make me feel worse. 😞 There was an iphone selling on ebay and I just missed out so I messaged the seller to see if they were going to sell anymore. He said he had another one and gave me his number to contact him. He asked me to send him the payment and he will send me the phone. He seemeed legit so I messaged someone he recenty sold one to, to get their feedback on their buying experience with him. They gave me wonderful feedback so I thought i would give him a chance. He won't answer my calls or messages now and the phone is still not here. He sent it from VIC to WA through WA Logistics. I now realise it's against ebays policy to do this transaction so i know they won't be able to help me. 😞 I was going to contact the police.  Is there anything else i can do?

Definitely the police.  You have information that you can pass on to them including the bank account or address that you sent the money to.  The phone number they were using.  You also have their past sale to pass on to the police and you should probably take a print out of that.  Also any correspondence from the previous 'buyer' that supposedly purchased from them although that seems like part of the scam.

Good luck with it.

If you paid via Credit Card funded means, you could contact your bank and ask them to do a chargeback.

You should also contact the police.
