ID Protected by Seller

I just bid on a pair of capri pants - nothing odd about that.  So, since I have a bit of time on my hands I thought I would check out the seller's other items.  All the bids on all the items are id protected. This is obviously something the seller has instigated, but why would they bother?

Why don't all sellers do it?   Isn't an online name annoymous enough?

Id's are disguised anyway, but if you are seeing the message ID protected, it means its a private auction.  Usually this is for things of a personal nature or if the seller sells the same items over and over (So the price isnt hindered by what people see the previous item sold for).

Its great in that what you buy remains private even if you leave feedback fro each other- it doesnt tell the world what size capri pants you needed to buy 🙂
