Seller says that I need to return to a different address than the one they have on ebay?

I am in the middle of a return process with a seller who sent me the wrong item.

The item they sent says it came from the town and state they have on ebay... however they're saying that they don't live in that state.

They are saying that simply telling me that they live in a different address is enough notification according to ebay and that's the address I should return to.

This doesn't sound like ebay policy. Usually they stick with the address you provided ebay and that's that.

I want to return it tracked with a return slip they provide me but they seem to be trying to get me to return it some other way. That's the only way I want to return it as it's ebay approved and will be tracked automatically etc.

As those reading will be aware, the entire conversation they are having with me is recorded by ebay in our open case. They keep changing their story, and trying to get me to agree to things their way, and its worrying me. However, because they'll put the new return address in writing in the case - does this mean I'll be covered if I send to this new address?

I'd far prefer to just return with a return slip. It's easier than having to go to the post and buy a new bag and upload tracking etc etc - it's inconvenient given I was the one put out by their mistake.

Can I refuse unless they use a return slip? This is the only way I feel comfortable returning to them.
