What is the point of allowing private listings to hide the item description in all feedback? How do I know what item is being referring to?

Recently looked at buying an item around $400 (lawnmower) and wanted to check if others had purchased and left feedback. What I found was thousands of neutral and negative feedback left from buyers but all the items in the feedback were listed as private and therefor don't know which items are being referred to. What is the point of leaving feedback for buyers to see if the item description is removed?

In that situation the fact that the seller has received an enormous amount of bad feedback is more important than which items he has received it for.

I strongly advise you to never buy from him or anyone else with a bad reputation. Also if you want to receive decent service and a warranty that will be honoured you'll be better off buying from a store.
