What to do if listing offered Paypal method and now seller says bank deposit only?

I won an item and paid by Paypal but the seller informed me their Paypal account isn't in working order and the payment was unclaimed so I cancelled it. They gave me bank acc. details to make a deposit (different details as to what is listed in their checkout bank details). Realising Paypal is the only way I am protected, I don't want to use bank deposit, as they are saying I must. If they had Paypal listed as a payment method and now say it can't be used, what do I do about that? I've talked to eBay and they said to ask the seller to fix their Paypal and that I will wait, but on saying this to my seller they are still saying they can't do that and can only take bank deposit. (And should I redo the Paypal payment so at least it doesn't look like I am a non-payment buyer?)
