Why does my whole user id appear when I bid and everyone else goes anon by t***h or the like?

New to ebay, can't find how to be like everyone else!

Only you and the seller can see your whole username. To everyone else your ID is disguised - same as theirs is to you. If you log in to eBay as a guest and look at the item you're bidding on you'll see that your ID is just a couple of digits separated by stars.
