OK, so I spent quite a bit of this wet afternoon searching for long T-shirt/shirt type of dress in cotton ( or linen). So, I put in search "long T-shirt cotton dress", and got thousands of results, most not T-shirt type, others have cotton linen in title, but in description they say polyester. And most annoyingly, many come up in the index with price around $10, but once you click on it and select color and size the price doubles or even triples. In the past they would have another cheap item in the selection of colors, now they do not even bother. I am happy to pay $30 or even $50 + for the dress I want, but I hate being sucked in. I do want to be able to quickly look through the index and see which seller has the best price. There is no way to report this, as far as I can see. I have been reporting them as "search and browse manipulation" and "misleading title", which is fine for those claiming to be cotton and then admitting it's polyester, but I wonder if the wrong price will be noticed. Is there anything I am missing?
You've certainly been around for long enough to know how eBay works, And been on the boards long enough to know how to report items.
As I explained if you bothered to read what I have written, there is no way to select for the option of sellers putting low price that shows in the index of search items, and then considerably higher price when you click on the item. Reporting it as "search manipulation" is not very useful because when they check the listing, the lower price will not show. They will not have a clue.
i have not been shopping here for a while, and the way it is working, I could not be bothered. I stopped selling when they changed.
Can you use quotation marks around the relevant terms, and exclude terms you don’t want?
For example, “T-shirt” “dress” “cotton” -polyester … but you’ll still end up with some bad results. You should be able to get rid of some more of these results by specifying lowest price of $30 or $50 or whatever you think will be a reasonable price.
Almost certainly you’ll still have to weed out some results, but the field will be narrowed.
The point is the sellers call it "T-shirt" even when it quite obviously is not , and they put in tittle "cotton" when it is not. And they list it with price $10, but the listing is double or triple. The search will show, whatever the seller puts in the listing. Basically, they are making eBay unworkable. The 2 pictures are of the same listing before and after you select color and size.
