manipulating negative feedback perhaps?

Received a counterfeit item (SD card). Reported seller to EBay immediately and left negative feedback stating item was a fake. Also lodged a claim through PayPal. Seller contacted me to change feedback as payment was refunded on 14th Nov. I refused to alter feedback because potential purchasers would not be aware of the counterfeit problem. Seller had automatically left me inital positive feedback on purchase but changed comments later to the effect that I am a scammer and also posted under his feedback that the item was faulty & I could have returned it for a full refund. After seeing negative comment left for me on 19th I added to his response that the item was not faulty but a definate fake. Yesterday 20th I received an email from ebay advising the seller had cancelled my purchase. I do not understand how this can occur. I checked sellers feedback again and notice that only original feedback is showing. The sellers follow up comment of it being faulty and mine stating it was not faulty but a fake are not showing. Therefore, I can only conclude the cancellation of purchas and removal of comments are linked. There is no provision on the email from ebay for me to respond and advise there was NO order to cancel.  Can anyone enlighten me as to what is happening here-is this a loophole for dishonest seller?.
