private listing - bidders' identities protected

I recently, unsuccessfully, bid on a relatively inexpensive brooch;  sub $100.  There were 3 bidders and 7 bids.  My bid name was abbreviated, as is usual, all other bids had:  private listing - bidders’ identities protected.  I backtracked this information from an email that stated I had been outbid as, in my eBay account the item in my watch list and in bidding history has been removed.

My question: shouldn’t buyers be able to keep records of their bids and items on their watch list until they decide to delete them from there account.

Go into your purchase history then click on "bids and offers" the item you failed to win should be in there.

Just a note on "private listings", they were originally intended for sensitive or high-priced items, but it's well-known that dodgy sellers will use them to shill bid on their own items. So beware of auctions like that, and only bid in the last minute or less of the auction.
