refund to stop putting a bad review

Hi,

I recently purchased a fillable paint roller from a seller on ebay.

It was much cheaper than the original brand on TV but the advertising was misleading because it said that it was the original one on TV.

Anyway I sas prepared to use it whether it was the original one or a copy.

I got the item fairly quickly, about 10 days and I noticed that the box was not closed properly but the postage wrapping kept it closed.

I then opened the box fully to see the items were all there , however the main paint roller had an impression on the foam from the side of the other smaller roller.

as this roller applies paint , it has to be flat rather than rippled in order to leave a smooth even finish on the wall.

I sent a message to see what they wanted to do to fix the problem and they wanted photos.

after receiving the photos, they agreed it was not good and offered a refund of 30% of the price.

I asked them if it would be better to send another of the part that was damaged. they could not do this but offered 60% reduction in the cost.

I saw that with a prepackaged item from another central supplier that they were probably using, it was not possible to do this and sending the item back was also a waste of postage.

we agreed to just reduce the cost by the 60% but when I said I'd put a neutral response to the online review system, they wanted me to not even put a neutral response as they saw it as the same damage to their business as a negative response.

they offered me 75% not to put a neutral response and certainly not a negative one.

my question is  ...

Do you at Ebay consider that the neutral response is bad for a company or that only a positive response/review of the transaction is a fair entry in the ebay system.

I was shocked that the seller wasn't keen to accept a neutral response as a balance of not putting a negative due to the product at least not being charged a full price for.
