selecting a shipping method on bought items from overseas.

Can I select the shipping method for items purchased.  The cost is prohibitive in many instances for example.

a 500 gram item worth 20 Pounds quoted at 40 pounds plus to freight to Australia. The Royal mail will ship the item for 14pound and include tracking.

I am reluctant to purchase from Ebay any more because of this issue.

Many sellers from UK and USA have been opted into the Global Shipping Program which is very expensive for smaller items.

Some sellers will use Royal Mail if you ask them.
