unsolicited text msg ads from seller

Today I received this text msg: "Don't miss 15% off* vintage Gucci, Dior, Prada & more from Japan sellers. Use code https://ebay.us/****  *T&Cs apply. SMS 'Stop' to 0*******"
I want these unsolicited ads from ebay to STOP! I tried texting the number on the text but it didn't go through. Is this a scam?

Just to add, the way to  manage / stop  real communication from eBay is in your eBay account.

Go to your

My eBay  Account

Account Preferences

Communication Preferences

Marketing Communications  >  Edit

Untick what you don’t  want to receive

Click Save

Yes, but not from the scam phone number the OP posted, so anything coming from that number is a scam

Last thing I would do is text the number, especially if you do not know if it is a scam

Which it is

Entering the number into a site like Who Called Me would have instantly confirmed this

I would have simply blocked the number

So yes, it is a scam and you have done exactly what the scammers wanted

Expect a lot more scam sms now you have confirmed your number and you are happy to play along with scammers

And they are not from eBay, but scammers pretending to be eBay

I'd advise nobody click on the link provided by scammers, which you have included

In addition to Sandy’s sound warning, OP, you may want to have your phone checked for malware. Clicking onto the phone number may have automatically installed keylogger, virus, malware, spyware, any sort of stuff that you don’t want. If you use your phone to access sensitive sites (incl bank account), I’d suggest a moratorium on that until you can feel secure. Get a professional authorised tech, not a person who knows a bit about phones.
