Hello everyone,
I've accidentally bidded on a item - $810.0 it was a complete accident and I didn't realise I had even done it until about 3 days later and I'd won the item for about $150.00 - It's a pair of shoes. I was actually only wanting to bid $18 and this clearly was a big mistake. I've contacted the owner and asked if there was anyway to cancel the sale, as I've accidentally done this and I do not want to pay this amount for just a pair of shoes.
The seller was quite rude and completely unreasonable, and basically told me I have no choice but to pay and that's it.
Is there anyway to cancel this without not paying and getting a non-paying strike against my name?

Sorry to hear that. There isn't much that you can do. You could request for the seller's personal details and call them personally as it may be easier to talk and explain what has happened. Otherwise, you can either just pay for the item or just not pay and receive a strike, unless the seller becomes reasonable.
Hope all goes well.

unless the seller becomes reasonable
Excuse me but it is the buyer who is being unreasonable.
The seller has no idea of the maximum bid placed by the auction winner so the seller is being moe than reasonable to expect the winning bidder to pay for the item they have won.
You can't blame the seller if the buyer claims to put in an incorrect bid and doesn't notice it when asked to enter the bid then accept the bid and commit to buy and then not see the box that comes on on the monitor that tells you "you are the highest bidder" and again has the amount you entered there for you to see.

Done it myself when I first started on ebay - accidently entered $2000 instead of $20 for a pair of boots - think they sold in the vinicity of $180 - they were certainly not worth anymore than $50 - and it was just bad luck that someone decided to go into a bidding frenzy at the end of the auction and good luck they didn't go any higher.
I still cringe when I think about. Though I'll bet the seller was super stoked, over the moon happy with that auction outcome.
I just sucked up the pain and paid up.
Wasn't the sellers fault, though I felt sorry for the other bidder, who really wanted the item. They must have been scratching their heads too, as the final price was really unforseeable.
Never, ever had that problem again - lesson learnt, I can not imagine it ever happening again, I triple, quadruple check my bids before pressing anything !!!
