Advice of return of counterfeit bag for refund.

Hi forum community,

Your advice is sought on the best way for me to come out as unscathed as possible from a recent ebay purchse!. I purchased an "authentic" vintage Chanel bag from the USA. While I know it was a risk, I had the comfort of purchasing through Paypal if anything went wrong. Bag was recieved and I took the bag to Chanel on the intention of having the bag restored (as mentioned earlier it was a vintage bag with damage that I was made aware of with the listing). Chanel advised that they were not able to help as the bag was not genuine :(.

My dilema is this. Seller contacted and they have appeared genuinely sorry that it was not authentic. They have asked for return of the bag for full refund. No problems there as I obviously dont want the bag!. My question is - am I entitled to have the high postage costs reimbursed?  (approx $90 australian). I would have been more than happy to hand the bag into the police station for destruction or destroy the bag myself to avoid it being placed back into circulation (and provide evidence of the destruction). Not exactly sure of the best way to deal with this? All advice appreciated and will be listed to.

Regards

Mark do you read sellers return policies prior to purchasing ?

As a buyer I certainly do.

There are also many sellers that reimburse post costs if there is a problem with goods and state this in their listings - I certainly do as I expect the same as a buyer if goods are not as described.

The eBay money back guarantee also makes new provisions for seller paid post returns

Yep, happened to me quite a few times too.

Example: I bought a pair of running shoes from the US. When they arrived the shoes sizes did not match (one shoe was a different size to the other). My photos clearly showed it. Seller argued and was abusive. PP agreed with me. I won the case. But I had to mail them back at my expense.

Result was I just threw them away and left a negative feedback.

Just one of the reasons that I am moving a lot of my purchases to B&M stores.

Beauty, slam a neg in there if you feel it's right.

BTW your siggy is a little bit stupid IMHO.
