Am I meant to give feedback when i didn't receive an item (don't think it was seller fault)

I was refunded by eBay as item not received, but it most likely was an issue with Australia Post??

The seller has since given me positive feedback, which I am grateful of. But do/should I give them feedback?

Ps: I am also at a loss to know if I should in future have all items sent registered? (expensive though)

1. Feedback is optional.

2. If you involved eBay the seller automatically got a defect, which any feedback will not negate.

3. Why would you pay more than you have to?

It is up to the seller to prove POSTAGE. For low value items most sellers will take the risk rather than pricing themselves out of the market.

Whilst I understand your concern I don't understand why you got the refund from eBay. Did you contact the seller at all? Did they respond? Or did you just open a dispute? And how long after you bought?

I wouldn't worry about leaving feedback in this case. You could do neutral feedback though, simply because the item wasn't received.

Jess, you obviously don't realise that leaving a neutral is exactly the same as giving negative feedback insofar as the seller receives a defect for it. Far better to either leave a positive, or nothing at all.

Personally, I would leave no feedback.

You got your money back, so you lost nothing in the end.
It wasnt your fault, and probably not the sellers fault either, so just let it be.

Feedback is optional. Just because you received feedback, doesnt mean you have to leave feedback.... Most sellers leave feedback immediately after receiving payment, so you probably had his feedback long before the INR case was opened and closed.

..... but, if you really WANT to leave feedback, I would suggest a positive green dot. After all, you did get your money back. Something like [...  INR and received immediate refund  🙂  ]

Where in the OP post did they say they received a refund? It sounds like they are without the item and still out of pocket. The seller can only leave positive feedback so being grateful for that is meaingless. I would open a dispute for INR.

I was refunded by eBay as item not received

Fom the OP. So the seller already has a defect and any feedback is just salt in the wound. Won't negate the defect, won't make the OP's claimed remorse credible.

Any feedback should be based on sellers level of co operation and communication, and not be a reflection on the AP system.

Was there any tracking action recorded. Not all items lost by AP are actually sent in the first place. That you will never know without tracking activity

Reg post only reduces chance of a loss due to postie not leaving it in secure place  or potential delivery to wrong address.

Sellers can give a pos after a claim to soften you and possibly avoid you leaving bad fb (ise damage minimization)

TBH don't over think it, you got your money back so unless seller did anything particularly hostile forrget it and move on. half of buyers don't leave fb anyway regardless how good the transaction was.

Sadly its very unfair to the sellers.

I have an item sold not received right this second currently.

Yep item not received opened up n auto defect, thnx aus post.

Curious as to ebay's big business friends n if they get

auto defects against them?

About to refund. was a $232 sale.

Australia post gave the run around(they stated 10 business days) before allowing an insurance claim

which will only recover half the money not quite that either. No refund on the postage offered so far either.

I note they also request proof of the postage and insurance & tracking details(even tho they have it already)

Wanted proof of cost via 'wholesale' tax invoice( wonder how

second hand sellers and unique and had made etc go with that?)

Seems trying to avoid paying the sold price, tho I didnt insure enough for that.

I post everything insured and tracked. Even ALL my free post items

and thats paid out of my pocket as most sellers do these days.

They actually said or implied item was found and a problem with

labelling and auto sorting machines was causing it to flip between sorting locations.

And that they would have it sorted manually and delivered today,

which now turns out from a phone call this morning was just hot air.

They presumed it would be sorted manually and they just monitoring their

computer systems, dont seem to have communicated with their warehouses

or looked for it etc. Even mentioned they probably opened it up if labelling

damaged and wanted description of contents to again check their computer

systems for such an item being entered in, haha, yeh can c that working.

Thats destination label, a from label, and Aus post plastic

print type barcode label and a Aus post tracking label.

Also noted paypal n ebay's tracking detail entries have issues,

Paypal only had Aus post eparcel which when I updated it( I normally dont for ebay sales as ebay has tracking),

went and auto updated my original ebay tracking details and

made it untrackable until I rechecked immediately and found it

and corrected it. Note it also changed all the postage dates, tho

clicking thru the tracking number gives u the true story still.

Moral of the story, ebay paypal aus post not to be trusted or taken

as gospell.

I had been sending via couriers for near a decade(no losses) but last month

started using Aus post again, 10 items on maybe 8, then 1 went missing.

Take it easy guys, not every one deserves neg feedback or defects, sadly ebay

seems to think they do.
