Any Experts on? Re Suspect Bidding (shill?).

G'day, just after some info

Here's my story

Have been looking at cameras over the last few weeks, came across one that looked good but out of my price range, followed it's progress just to see what something like that might sell for.

The first listing did not sell, no bids. The item was re-listed at 1/3 of the price and attracted a couple of bids and appeared to be sold but, then it was listed again at the same 1/3 original price and attracted more bids and once again appeared to be sold at the lower price. Now it has been re-listed at the original high price with a BIN + Offer.

The times it looked to be sold had what appears to be the same final bidder.

I thought I would do the right thing and make a report to have it checked and in the process I got an information notice and nowhere to make the written report.

Does this mean someone has already reported it?

Have not reported anything in years (couldn't be bothered with the process, a bit like now!) Shouldn't there be a box to write details ?

I mean, sold without autherisation...........Twice!?

It's all getting a bit to hard to do the right thing these days.

Any Ideas?

To report shill bidding you need to select the second option from the third drop down box..

IMHO the brief description box was removed so that they didn't have to deal with these reports,(if they have no idea

why it's being reported they can't do anything to remove the scam/fraudulent listing)stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

Using these report links seems to be ineffective and it's better to Email them,(not that it will improve your chances

much in trying to remove a possible shiller),Whistle.gif

Yes it is suspicious but hard to prove if shill bidding, could be the seller finshing listing early as they are not getting their desired price. This is against ebay rules as well. Still, you should report the seller by contacting ebay direct (email) not using that useless report a seller link. nothing happens by using that  link. Dont hold your breath for anything to happen though as a great many sellers do the same thing.

shill bidding is hard to prove even though it sticks out like a saw toe at times.

shill bidding has turned off many buyers and the result now is auctions are becoming less and less.

auctions is what got eBay started and for years it was the thrill of trying to win an auction at a bargain price.

but auctions now are less attractive to buyers and sellers and buy now dominates  most categories.
