Auspost left package soaked in the rain

Just got home to find a package left soaked tossed inside the gate.  It would have taken the driver all of 20 seconds to place on the porch away from the rain.  Not the first time it's happened either.  Can I make a complaint about this?

Used to have a great driver who actually went up to the door, rung the bell and left the parcel.  If I hadn't had a visitor come and notice the package lying on soaked in the corner I wouldn't even know i had a delivery.

Hi Tchi,

You most certainly can make a complaint about this. While our drivers can "safe-drop" non-signature parcels, they need to be left in a secure location sheltered from the elements and out of view from the street.

To report this damage you will need to take the item and all packaging into a Post Office and complete a green PM26 Damaged Item Claim.

Once they left an express parcel outside the builiding, on the wall here the mailboxes are (facing the street) because it didn't fit in the mailbox... It was stolen, but I was compensated. The postman remembered where he had left it and "confessed".

PS: I was home on that day, waiting for my express parcel...

Thanks Alice, have noted that info you put up earlier. Good to know as it is sometimes a bit daunting to know where to start with claims and the like with (not just) APost, but any larger organisation.:-)

don't take life too seriously.......it's not permanent

lt was only on one occasion but I once had a package left out in clear view of the street. Thankfully no one stole it.

My posties are great, both the letter and the parcel posties.

Can't complain about mine either.. They either come up to the gate and shout out, or if I'm not home they leave it in front of the door or leave a card

Great peice of service by Aust Post yesterday .....

Sent a parcel to my daughter express post. Tracking showed it had been delivered at 11.59 but when I spoke to here at 12.30 she didn't have it.

We rang Aus Post, they contacted the driver who remembered the delivery ... into a similarly named street in the adjoining suburb. They sent out a postie to retrieve it and my daughter had the parcel within 30 minutes of getting off the phone.

Turns out that the idiot that sent the parcel (ie me) mistyped one letter in the street name which made it even more like the similarly named street nearby.

Just as well we cut and paste most addresses!
