Hi Everyone. Can someone please advise me what I have to do to make sure that my actual EBay user name does not appear as a bidder in an online auction. I notice that other bidders use some letters and numbers only. Is it possible to use this format in my case.
Thank you for your response. Hock

All bidders have those numbers, letters on an auction and only the seller and yourself can see your ID

Hock, you do not need to do anything.
Other bidders see your ID in the form of letters, asterisks and numbers too.
You can check this out for yourself by logging out of ebay and looking at an auction that you have bid on....you will only see your disguised ID.

hock, try this . . . . . . . go to a listing where you have placed a bid and copy the item number. You can find the item number over on the right hand side as shown below. Log out of eBay and then paste the number in to the search box and click search. When the listing comes up click on the number of bids and you will see what we all see i.e. all bidder IDs are hidden.
