Bit concerned as made first purchase quite rashly

Hi guys

I just made my first payment on ebay. yay!

However I did it without a paypal account (which I do have now). I used the pay by credit card method which however, did seem to be powered/processed by Paypal.

Im sure everything will be fine but just in case it isnt, will I be able to get a refund?

The item is listed as new and I have ebay emails from the seller describing it "as new as it gets" etc.

Thanks guys

If you were directed to the secure paypal pathway to use your credit card, then yes you are protected, both by paypal (as you now have an account a claim via PP is made easier) and by the fact that you could inititate a chargeback with your CC provider if all went pear shaped.

Well done with your first purchase.

Just went and checked - the seller you purchased from has good feedback and what looks like a very good reputation.

Just always use paypal from now on, and keep in  mind you have 45 days to claim for non receipt of an item, or if you receive a damaged or not as described item, 60 days to leave feedback, and come here for help whenever you feel you need to.

If you set up your paypal account with the same details and credit card as you used for the guest payment then the first transaction should show in your paypal account.

If you do need to open a dispute for that first transaction you will need to have the payment details transferred into your new account.

For now I would not worry....if the seller is as reputable as greencat says then there will probably be no reason the open a dispute.

My first 20 or so purchases with made by posting money orders...with no problems.

And not knowing about 'Freaky Fridays' when eBay and PayPal could play up on those occasions I would pay by bank deposit....and they all went fine too.

I always check the seller's feedback and if it's all good then how a buyer pays shouldn't be an issue.

Actually you can get newer, you can buy one sealed in a box that has not been opened and has not been turned on.

I personally would never list this item as "new".

Well its not listed as 'brand new" but as new so as long as its how he describes it (no marks, "nothing wrong with it at all", then Im happy with the purchase.

He said he was posting it today so hopefully will be here soon

Please let us know how it all goes, or come back for assistance if there seems to be a problem, they did seem quite genuine from what I looked at, but always good to know you have backup or help when you need it.

My son has purchased from them in the past, with no problems, so while I did not want to say unequivically that they are great, I feel pretty comfortable in saying all should be well.
