Can any action be taken?

Hello, today i traveled 220 km each way to buy a caravan from a seller that had described the item as in very good condition, photos looked good, and my messaging and numerous phone contacts with him resulted in him telling me everything was good. After arranging road permits, purchasing towing items and fuel i arrived at his home to find a rusted out , weather beaten and generally worthless caravan. He seemed unconcerned about my annoyance at his lies regarding the condition, and the effort and money i had invested. He even called me minutes after i had left to return to Melbourne and ask if he could purchase the towing permit i had paid for earlier and the towing accessories i also purchased, so he could tow it to another location! Is there anything i can do through Ebay about this scammer? I hope some one can offer any advice, admittedly i think ill just had to accept it, thank you.

the pictures look good but I would have been suss with "the vans needs cosmetic work"

I don't think there is anything you can do, I think you are just going to have to wear the cost.

I discussed the work needed and he mentioned only a small section inside, not the entire chassis, ceiling falling apart, thanks for your hbh

The pictures are quite deceptive. Especially the ones of the inside that are poor quality and pixely. They could hide a multitude of sins. I'm just glad you had the sense to walk away without paying for it. Exactly what you should have done. Plenty of people who don't know any better, would have thought they were committed to buy it, so would have taken it regardless.
