Can someone tell me what the new GST rate is for items purchased overseas, and is it for the item only or the postage and item combined, thanks

Thanks kopenhagen5,
So my last purchase from the UK, l paid $47.34 for the item, l paid $29.22 for postage, total being $76.56, the GST cost was $12.09,
that is a bit more than 10%, are we being ripped off here

So it gets better, the total with the GST included comes to $88.65, then when l go into my bank and check the transaction details there, the total is $93.11, so where is this $4.46 gone, who gets it, why am l getting ripped off here

The total of $88.65 is the amount when l go to view order details.

What about the difference in the order total which is listed on ebay, then when you check your bank statement it is more, tell me something is dodgy here

The GSP is an expensive service and most of the long time ebayers here stay away from sellers using the GSP.
It is illegal for Australian sellers to charge a fee to collecting the GST but not for off shore countries.
As for the difference between invoiced amount and bank debited amount that is a question for your bank but it could mean a difference in the converison rate or fee charged by your bank on an international transaction.

There is nothing dodgy going on.
Kopenhagen has explained it to you but you have taken no notice.
If the item is being shipped with the GSP you pay extra for them to collect the GST.....as explained it usually works out at about 15%.
As for the exgtra amount charged by your bank.....did you allow them to do the currency conversion? If you did then that is probably what the extra is....it is typically 3% of the tranaction amount.
If you had allowed paypal to do the conversion the amount would have been built into the conversion rate and you would have known what it was before you actually paid.
You have been on ebay long enough and bought enough to understand how it works.
