Dear Friends,
I am a new member to eBay and I booked a TI-84 calculator online few days back, and selected the Cash On Pick Up mode of payment. However, I did not know that this option of payment is not available when you want the item to be delivered to a different city, as in my case.
Now, I want to change the payment mode in the already issued order from "Cash On Pick Up" to the "Payment via Paypal". When I asked the seller about how to change the mode of payment, he said that only I can change it. Now, the problem is that being new to eBay and Paypal, I don't know how to change it myself.
It will really kind of you if you could guide me how to change the payment mode from "Cash On Pick Up" to the "Payment via Paypal"..
Please reply soon.. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Syed

You need to ask the seller to resend the invoice. If they don't know how to do it tell them that they need to go to their items sold list and in the dropdown menu on the right they need to select send revised invoice. From there they will be able to resend the invoice.
Once they resend the invoice the checkout lock is broken and you can go through checkout again and choose the Paypal option for payment.

Hi Numbers,
Welcome to eBay.
I'm a little curious why you chose Cash on Pick up as your payment method when you wanted the item delivered?
Were you thinking that Cash on Pick up was Cash on Delivery?
This may be irrelevant, I am not sure of how much you know about the rules of eBay/PayPal as you are new, but just so that you know, a lot of sellers will only deliver your item to the address that you have lodged with PayPal. They won't send it to an alternate unlisted address as it voids their seller protection if the item goes missing in transit.
PayPal specifically tells sellers to only post to an address registerd with them. (This also means that even if you have moved and no longer live at the address registered with them that you need to upodate your details or the seller is bound to use your old address)
It's great to see that you are using one of the recommended safe methods of payment (PayPal in this case) if you stick to that for all of your transactions then your eBay experience will be as risk free as possible, as you maximize your opportunities for Buyer Protection.
Keep in mind that bank deposits are like donating your money to a stranger, they afford you no buyer protection whatsoever, so if something is not as described, or does not arrive, you will have no recourse through eBay or PayPal.
Spend up heaps and have fun!

Crikey it is the address showing in ebay checkout that the seller must use for seller protection and as the buyer has selected cash on pick up nothing would show in Paypal, if they get a new invoice it is in checkout that the buyer must make sure they have the correct delivery address as that is the one thsat will show in Paypal.
Numbers was there a delivery option in the listing and was postage quoted? If so then the seller can reinvoice you so you can select Paypal however if the only delivery option was pick up the seller is under no obligation to send it and even if you sent them a separate payment for postage you would have no buyer protection with Paypal as it would still be classed as a pick up item.

If the seller won't re invoice you so you can pay with Paypal try calling ebay and explaining that you now want to use Paypal but the seller will not re invoice, if you get a helpful one (it does happen lol) they can reset it so you start again.
Again forget about what addresses are stored in Paypal, they are irrelevant, it is only the address in ebay checkout that you need to make sure is correct.
Also take note that even if a seller does offer cash on delivery it is completely unsafe, you are not allowed to open the package before paying and it could contain anything from scrunched up newspaper to a brick and you would have absolutely no way of getting your money back without taking civil action.
Unless it is really a pick up item then please always use Paypal, for pick up you are best paying cash after you have inspected and/or tested the item, if it isn't as good as iits description then you can walk away without paying, if you pay for a pick up only item with Paypal you have no buyer protection, if you don't have the ready cash then you can use Paypal but only make the payment after you have inspected/tested..

PJ, when PayPal tells me it is safe to send the item, what address do they use?
are you saying that if the PayPal and eBay addresses are different then I have to use the eBay one? Not the PayPal one which they tell me to use?
and if I send it to the eBay addy and it is different to the one PayPal has on file, I don't lose my seller protection?
Is that right?

Crikey, the address that is in Checkout is the address that is imported to paypal and is the address that you should send to....it is the address that will show on the paypal notification.
