Does anyone else have a problem with the global shipping rip-off??

Global shipping adds a further 30% to shipping costs making it impossible for buyers to make OS purchases! The very least eBay should be doing, is giving the buyer the RIGHT to choose if they want to use such services!

i have had buyers tell me it's against eBay policy to NOT use global shipping program!!

wtg eBay!

Incorrect.

A seller can opt to use it or not but many sellers are not aware how the service appears to the buyer. (Mostly USA and UK)

If it's something you really want from that seller, message them and ask if they are prepared to send it via normal postal methods and what the cost is.

Personally I stay clear of any listings with the GSP and find another seller.

I'm not too happy either with the GSP my last item from the US arrived took around 3 weeks to deliver and I wasn't to impressed, only to discover in the tracking it arrived in sydney and finally arrived 10 days later grrr. I have asked US sellers to use the US postal service an alternative to the GSP.

i was once a fair buyer from the USA as i'm into radio control cars and spares but scince the GSP arrived my buying from there has dropped to near zero. the few sellers i contacted over rediculous postage chages seemed to just shrugg their shoulders and say so what! so what, i thought they wanted to sell stuff? well now chinese and japanese sellers get my business.

I don't have any problems with the GSP ripoff because I refuse to buy from sellers who use it. UNLESS, the item is a large bulky item, in which case it actually works out cheaper being sent via GSP. A large heavy item I purchased a few years ago was $AU69 via GSP. It would have been a smidgeon over double that for it to be sent vis USPS.

It's easy to avoid people who use it. In the search results it will say "customs services and international provided" and inside the listing, under the price it will say "no additional import charges at delivery!".

As already mentioned, if you contact the seller BEFORE you bid/buy, ask them if they would consider posting via USPS (or Royal Mail if it's from the UK). Smaller sellers will often say yes, larger sellers usually no. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

The worst thing about the GSP is that you can't combine shipping, even if the seller offers it.
