You don't explain how you ended up paying so much, but if it was because you used Global Shipping then you should have checked that out first, there is plenty of information on these boards about it and why most of us avoid it. I don't know how you think eBay or Paypal are responsible for this. The sellers are the ones who choose to use Global Shipping. There are millions of people who buy and sell on here, quite successfully and happily. It is your option not to. eBay will not go broke when you depart, nor will they even notice or care.
Members on these boards, get very tired of people who constantly blame eBay for their own lack of knowledge and research before buying. eBay only brings buyers and sellers together, the rest is up to you.

Hi shoppingbag, there are still a lot of people that are not completely familiar with Global Shipping / Pitney Bowes or the horrendous ramifications of using this extortive service. Heck some people I talk to still have no idea what Global Shipping is. So people still get stung. Also, from a collector / investors point of view, many items are a once-in-a-life-time scoop, never to be seen again, so the option of buying elsewhere doesn't exist.
But at the end of the day, I guess protection rackets, the Federal Reservce, Global Shipping, fleas and mosquitos are here to stay.
