Ebay and PP charges?

I have just ordered two items for a total of $95 US. I am still charged $39.90 freight on these items, although the vendor says they will reduce that to $19.95, "as that is what they quoted". I had asked about bundling  because I felt that both items could fit in the pack that was to be sued for one. This was never actually agreed to. However..... Having offered the lower freight the vendor then said that he had forgotten the ebay/Paypal fees....which are claimed to be $16.18.

(1) Surely $16.18 is way too high a fee on a $95 purchase

(2) I have dealt with guy before and gave him a good write-up. I now wonder whether they are using freight a little bit freely., basically refusing to charge bundled freight.

I have never heard of being slugged fees for a purchase. I thought the vendor should absorb that in the price and should certainly advise of any fees up front.

I would appreciate any advice

Having talked to the vendor, they have said they will wear the charges. They mentioned them only because, having discounted the item, they had forgotten to allow for that ebay costs and they have to take the loss.

glad you worked it out with the Seller,

however I would just point out that on ebay USA the seller pays fees to ebay and to paypal on the TOTAL AMOUNT of the invoice, not just the $95 item price.

[however, it is def.not OK to pass fees on to the buyer as a surcharge]

Thanks for the reply. I thought that passing a fee on would be frowned on. That was why I hastened to add my comment that the vendor had said they would carry the fee. That was voluntary on their part. It was just confusion, because they had mentioned the fee.
