Ebay has let me down again and I have $137 short of a refund as a result

I had some bad luck recently when I bought a 2nd hand camera from a seller in QLD. He sold me a camera which isn't recognized by two android devices. He wouldn't accept a refund and was very arrogant. I followed the Ebay process for getting refunds and it was so slow ( I think purposely) that I had sent the camera back to the seller before the silly Ebay refund process was finished. I wasn't aware that I had to wait for a Ebay to send me form to fill out. The seller then told me that it works fine. That was his word. He sent it back and it didn't work. As a result, the Ebay process has put me off buying 2nd hand electronics on Ebay. You aren't protected if you mess up the Ebay refund process. Ebay won't do a thing if you err. I think their attitude could be their downfall. They make money out of you and that's all they care about. 15 years.

I would have thought that was self evident, how could ebay possibly help anyone if they did not follow the correct procedure, it would be open season for all buyers and sellers to say and do anything they wanted knowing ebay would give them what the wanted, not what they were entitled to.

because the ebay MBG process is not easy. It's not well documented of the steps involved. it misses out a lot of information required for the buyer.

In fact it gives you prompts to send the item back without waiting for a return label for starters. It also doesn't tell buyers that you have to wait 6 days before being able to escalate the claim.

From what I can gather, the money back guarantee isn't actually a guarantee. It isn't a certainty and if the ebay rules are a bit unclear & you don't follow procedure, yes, you may  get into strife and lose your money.

Basically, I think buying electronics, cameras, anything like that on ebay is fraught. Go elsewhere so you can inspect/test before you buy. There are several other places you can pick up things second hand.

If it's the Sony hdr-as20 can you clarify if the issue was that the camera didn't work outright OR  if the issue was that it worked but, wasn't recognised by the two Android devices as these are two very seperate matters and would have had a very distinct bearing on eBays decision and the Sellers actions.

I managed to get my phone to recognize the camera, but then the camera wouldn't record videos. Too much fuss for me. I'm not buying 2nd hand electronics of anyone on ebay. Too risky.
