Estimated Delivery Dates . . . . .

Maybe estimated delivery dates have always been way off the mark, but I have just noticed the following in my Purchase History  (each order is coming from China)

Ordered 10/2  Estimated delivery 15/4 - 29/4

Ordered   5/2  Estimated delivery 19/2 - 11/3

Ordered   2/2  Estimated delivery  4/2 - 5/2    -  Yes, not a typo - 2 days from China !!

If it was local - what would they quote - same day ????  Next day  ??????   Smiley LOL

As a Seller also, this really makes me wonder what estimated dates they tell my buyers . . . . . . .

That's why I have my handling time set to 5 days. I still post same or next day, but it fattens out the stupid, inaccurate eBay estimate a bit.

I have had something arrive from China in 3 days (not from eBay). Normally my Chinese eBay orders take anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks. Although, I do have a rather late one from one of my usual sellers. It's been 4 weeks so far. Normally hers arrive within 2 weeks. The tracking number is a bit ambiguous as to where it's currently located.

I think it's wrong that I can get things faster from China than what it takes for me to send something from NSW to Victoria!

Totally agree, I often get things quicker from China, than my WA buyers receive things from me.  But sometimes the Chinese ones actually come from Singapore and I think there's one big supplier I buy from who send express to Aust & then somehow distributes from here.  I've tried questioning her about it, but she's very evasive.  Quite possibly part of this big distribution centre eBay ae trying to set up - a trial perhaps ??  Usually I allow 2 -3 weeks from China (not days)

It's still outrageous though that eBay can estimate China to me in 2 days !!  I'd be lucky to post Brisbane to Brisbane in 2 days. Well that's an exaggeration, if I post today, often Brisbane ones are delivered tomorrow.  I noticed you commented you have left your handling time as 5 days on another post - I still have mine set as 1, but I guess I've been pretty lucky, I don't seem to have any problems (touch wood).  But I did make a mental note & figured if I do start having problems I will push mine out a bit.

I also have it set to 5 days as there are some days where I simply cannot get to the PO due to my work shifts, so I have allowed for that too. I used to have it set to 1 day, but there was the odd occasion I couldn't do it and I was worried my stars or feedback would be trashed.

I do think 2 days from China is a bit ridiculous. It takes 3 days via the express airmail service. I'd love to know how eBay comes up with these estimates. My husband bought a book from the US last week. The estimate said 3 weeks (which was fine, there was no rush to get it). It arrived today after 5 business days. That was sent first class international, so not even like it was express.
