Hi everyone. This is my first reply here
It is becoming harder to sell through eBay. I think I am a bit lucky to keep selling to people and some friends I know directly from time to time.
I still use eBay for buying.
I have one question and forgive me if I could not explain clearly my point. It is about PayPal Exchange Rate
As I buy coins mostly from overseas, I noticed when we have an increase in the Aus Dollar exchange rate with other currencies, PayPal will delay using the new exchange rate for about sometimes 2 days. But when Aus Dollar exchange rate decreases, PayPal will pass the difference straight away for their benefit.
What I meant is with higher Aus dollar, PayPal use lower rate for a couple of days but when Aus dollar exchange rate goes lower they use it quickly to make more money out of buyers’ pocket.
Make any sense?
Kind Regards

I can not say that I ever check up on when paypal changes their exchange rate. Many years of experience has proved that the paypal rate is better than my bank's rate so I just pay when I have to.
I really do not think you are right though...paypal adjusts their rate twice a day I believe, so why would they do that if they are not going to change anything.

Hi, it makes perfect sense! Pay pal is out there to make huge profits out of the little people and one of these is to delay the transition of exchange rates by 2-3 days.
Its not really the honest thing to do and i hope ebay/Paypal read this and try to explain why it takes so long.

Hi yes I have noticed the same thing.. The Australian site does not have any fees at all for sellers now. No listing fees and no FVFs at all. Worth a look.

Nearly all the regular posters will disagree with me, but I did a little test a while back between paypal and my credit card and which one offered the best exchange rate. 4 different transactions and my credit card was better each time. Saved myself about $50 on about $600 worth of purchases if I remember correctly.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Also many thanks for everyone replying here....
I am not talking about PayPal rate itself as I am sure it is better than many banks' rate.
What I am saying mate is I always try to pay overseas sellers when Aus dollar exchange rate is high and normally it should stay in the high for a couple of days for me to pay using that high rate. But if I miss the high and rate starting to drop they ( PayPal) pass the drop straight away.
I know it is a small amount to whinge about but think about how many people using PayPal!!!

Nice to know that someone can tell us all what we are allowed to discuss.
When someone titeles a discussion "fees, fees....." etc I think that anything discussing fees is appropriate. If thats aallright with you of course..... lyndal1838 (private)
