In Addition to my previouse rant, if the general public were at all even just a little savy on the postal costs in Australia it would raise a red flag, when a seller is selling something for less than the postal costs, its comming from China period.
An item i know is $7.95 to post, they sell for $8.00 free post out of syd, AU Stock...BS, anything over 2cm thick is parcel post at a minimum of $7.95 AU.
$8.00 less post = $0.05 then there's paypal fees, EBay final Value fees, its not rocket science. No one sells for fun at a loss just to fill their time. This item actually costs $3.50 direct from China, in Australia i would expect to see at least $15.00 or why bother.
The chinese say the stock is in AU and price it between China prices and Real Australian prices but still to cheap to actually be in Australia & subject to our postal costs plus you wait six weeks or more because its really sent from China, you might aswell pay the China price and buy direct from a Chinese seller and wait six weeks, but not when your hood winked into thinking its an Aussie seller and you only live two suburbs away, thinking you will get your goods in a few days.
How do you get all this Au stock from China to sell for less than postal cost and not pay duty or GST at the border, you cant import such large amounts of stock without paying duty, GST etc, duty and GST at the border would make it imposible to sell from within Australia at China prices, maybe im wrong.
On top of that EBay is allowing and condoning low import tax avasion, EBay is supposed to collect the GST for the ATO on low value imports, saves EBay a load of paperwork to turn the blind eye and dont forget the Billions in final value feesand back hand under table payments.
you will most likely find big bucks fat wallets and fat pockets are behind most things underhanded, money talks & tends to make morals,laws & policies invisable.
EBay AU...LOL... EBay US...LOL ....EBay UK...LOL... EBay Spain...LOL.......All of EBay is EBay China and you better believe it.

@lyndal1838 wrote:it is the BUYER who is responsible for paying GST. In the case of ebay sellers, ebay is responsible for forwarding the GST to the ATO.
Factually: EBay or the business is responsible for enforcing and collecting the GST on behalf of the ATO...IT IS NOT THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY IT, the buyer pays the GST but only if enforced or added by EBay or the business, the ATO does not chase buyers for any unpaid GST they hunt the Business for it.
I have spoken to EBay and was told they take a sellers word on the stock location.
Oh im already up in arms when it comes to these China Based sellers playing with Australian sellers livelyhoods and Aussie dollars going straight to a chinese company based in china instead of back into our own economy.

Agreed. I bought a Xim Apex from a seller based in Hong Kong. The item was listed as being in Australia. The seller also had a listing in Hong Kong with a longer delivery time.
I chose the one in Australia and it arrived within 4 days

I can do even better than that......
Some time ago I was looking to make a bulk purchase of cheap items which were easy to get from China. I did not care where they were located or how long they took to arrive.....my only criteria was "cheap".
I finally found a listing that screamed China, even down to the Chinglish in the listing. The location was suburban Sydney.
I paid my money on Monday night about 5pm and settled back to wait however long it took to arrive from China.
I really had egg on my face when it landed on my doorstep a 7.15am the next morning.....less than 15 hours after placing the order.
While I agree that there are a lot of misleading item locations, not all Chinese sellers so it. It is unfair to tar them all with the same brush.

@woodduck*2012,
The seller to whom you're referring has some of their stock listed as being in Sydney Australia, and some in China. This is a high-volume seller with bad feedback score (96.7%). The following feedback gives a bit of a hint about item location misrepresentation:
Item has a hole. Ordered 5XL but it wont fit my 7year old. Not shipped from Aus Buyer: s***- (72
)
Misleading ad. NOT AUS STOCK. Seller proceeded to pretend he had no idea Buyer: 0***0 (12
)
Arrived late. Package came from China instead of Sydney which was listed as the Buyer: s***w (107
)
HK not Sydney not sent goin refunded not in stock but you still selling on eBay Buyer:f***l (18
)
Products are NOT from sydney. Took 3 weeks to arrive. Blamed Aust Post. Lies. Buyer: a***m ( 114
)
Not Australian stock. Chinese writing all over packaging. No tracking. Buyer: a***b (151
)
Liars. Not aus stock. Marked it as sent. Never sent it. Never told me. Chinese. Buyer: s***a (1082
)
Wasn't based in Aus at all. Then lied the package was lost in mail Buyer: o***r (203
)
Misleading Seller. Stock obviously not in AU, but items list as if in Sydney Buyer: o***a (1759
)
(The items to which these feedback comments refer are stated in the listings as being in either Chullora or Sydney.)
I've ONLY listed some of the recent feedback comments relating to item location. There are many worse feedback comments in relation to the quality, items not being received at all, items being fake, items being wrong size, etc. I would not purchase a spent match from this seller.
Unfortunately, you cannot trust eBay's Best Match results. You will do better to sort on the basis of price, distance, or time. Forget Best Match. It doesn't give you the the best result for your search terms.
Secondly, always check the negative feedback. By clicking onto the clickable score under Feedback Ratings (select Negative over 12 months), you can see if there's a pattern to the negatives. If there's even a suggestion that the item location is incorrect, ask yourself whether or not you can trust a seller who lies about item location.
You can report sellers like this to eBay for item location misrepresentation, but as this is a Chinese seller, registered on eBay.cn, I think you already have a good idea of what will happen to the seller. Very little. It's not the fault of the eBay members here; all of us are frustrated by this. Look, I'll even go so far as to say eBay.com.au is not 100% happy about the situation either, but eBay Australia simply don't have the authority or legal power to do anything with these sorts of sellers, or to enforce any eBay policy on them. eBay.cn will not take the action that we as Australian consumers would expect to occur if the sellers in question were in Australia. (Chinese consumer law is completely different to Australian consumer law.)
So... the best action you can take is to avoid purchasing from Chinese eBay sellers for the most part, and to spread the word among other Australian buyers. It won't work as a grass roots protest movement, because unfortunately there are too many human beings who will always always ALWAYS go for the cheapest option and ignore all warning signs of their purchases contributing to long-term negative effects for Australian buyers and sellers - but who knows? Perhaps human nature or your persuasiveness among others will surprise me.

Alice Springs is easily 2000k's from Perth and Cairns, but only 1800 from Darwin, and I AM ALSO TIRED OF CHINESE SELLERS MISREPRESENTING LOCATION, while selling cheap shoddy misrepresented junk that costs more to send back than just to walk away.
All the while Ebay stands back and leaves it to teh customers, whilst stopping any negative feedback that might be more effective in stopping shonky sellers.
Amazon is coming..............

You keep saying that about Amazon. Amazon has been operating in Australia for over 12 months. It's understandable you would be confused about that as you have replied to a two year old post of mine, which is hardly topical.
Where did I say Darwin was more than 2000km from Alice Springs?
I'll refresh your memory -
That covers almost all of the continent. Definitely includes Darwin.
I doubt there is anywhere in Australia within 2000km of both Perth and Cairns, but not Darwin.
Alice to Perth is 1992km. To Cairns 1449. To Darwin 1290 (not 1800). To Melbourne 1890. So, as I said, 2000km radius from The Alice covers pretty much the whole continent.

I am sick of this to, I have recently order several things that say they are located in Sydney only to have them not arrive or weeks later, they are clearly shipping from china. This gives ebay a bad name and as a power seller it inevitably affects me. I dont know why ebay with all of there strict policys they enforce on us dont do something about this. I I was a new ebayer and had this same problem a few times in a row I would be shopping elsewhere.
