Fake gold on ebay!

There are several listing selling fake perth mint gold:

ebay listings

They have the word 'CertiCard' on the packet  which means it's fake

how to tells it's fake

Also here

What's worst though, I've reported it to ebay and they've done NOTHING!

This is not a fake handbag where sometimes people will buy it, knowing it's fake (based on price) just to pretend they have a name brand......this is much worst - It's people thinking they're buying an investment. It's the equivilent of conterfeit money!

And it's a jailable offence under Australian Law

.....but ebay don't care. I even spoke to a customer service rep and that was a week ago!

I trust you are correct with this, but in the pics on the listings, I ouldn't see the backs of any of the cards to tell if it is as described by the mint in their warnings. The seller appears to have been atround for a while, with 100% feedback. If ebay were notified by the mint around 12 months ago, find it hard to believe that no action was taken, given that this would be a serious federal offence.

Seems to be plenty of happy customers who have purchased them. The swan watermark is shown on the fronts. Maybe you know more about this than me, but you have to be careful pointing the finger unless you are qualified to do so. If you are right, it is unbelievable that they are still around, and it certainly would drag Ebay's trust to a very low level.

Gee they look real to me, but I'm no expert.

The first two listings meet all of the genuine PM criteria in your second link.

Yeah, your right - the first three are legit but the bottom three arent

It's mainly this seller <Removed>

Having 100% feedback doesn't mean you're selling genuine.

On looking through all the listings in your link, there is a green packaged one that looks dodgy, very blurred pics, and virtually no description in the listing. Low feedback etc  etc. I think you were a bit harsh to just put the link to all the listings, as the early ones appear to be from a legit company. Have to be certain before naming and shaming is what I am saying. Negs do hurt as you would know, with wearing some on your account already.

Oh yes I see. Those do look suspicious.

Perhaps a call to Perth Mint.

But don't say they are fake only they appear to be non genuine and you thought PM might want to investigate.

They will look at them. And provide all the item numbers you think suspect.

The problem with the tamper evident case (certicard) is that in order to open it, you have to destroy it, so ofcourse they're going to give positive feedback since you can't test the gold without destroying the case and I doubt the customer will destroy the case since they accept it at face value

A quick search on a chinese wholesale site sell them in droves! But they're selling them as fake (not trying to pawn them off as the real thing, like some certain sellers)

I image that there will be plenty of disappointed buyers once they discover they have purchased fake gold.

If you are buying gold coins then you need to buy them directly from the Perth Mint.

All buyers that have purchased these fake gold coins can check them by looking at the CertiCard Security case wording on the card

and if the wording security case is missing then you have a fake coin.

The real coins have the wording alligned and the fake coins the wording isn't,this will be shown in images of the coin that's forsale.

Also some carded coins that look real and have every wording alligned might still be fake and could have been tampered with

and replaced with a fake coin.

All these carded coins have a security seal on the back and if they have been tampered with you will find that when you look under a UV

light it will only show part of the wording on the security seal.
