Faulty New TV

I have purchased a brand new TV and it makes a buzzing sound from the back of the unit. I purchased through paypal and have contacted to seller...no repsonse yet but only early..all happened same day of delivery. Does anyone know what to do from here and do I have to pay for the return of the item. New to ebay and this is my first major purchase any suggestions would be great...thanks heaps

Give the seller a chance to reply to you before you do anything else.  Ebay recommends you wait 2 days for a reply before taking any other action.

You may well find that the seller will fix any issues without having to resort to a dispute which gives the seller an automatic defect....and makes the seller less likely to help you.

If you open a "return item" case then you will be in communication with the seller and eBay, if the seller will not refund or pay for return postage then you can ask eBay to step in and resolve the problem - it takes a while for that to happen though.

The problem as I see it is that you can't show the "buzzing" as a photo, so I don't know how you'll go with it.

I'm guessing it's the item you've already left feedback for so that could work against you.

To open the "return item" case go to your purchase history and click on the link shown and go from there.

"edit" good advice lyndal, but if the seller's who I think it is then they're one of the "protected ones".......god I'm slow tonight...........sigh.

Protected they may be Padi but they still have horrible feedback....98.3%.

I still think it is a better bet to at least wait for a reply before hitting the dispute button.  It is human nature to take umbrage at a dispute but try and help the buyer who contacts them first.

lyndal by using the "return this item" option doesn't give a defect until the buyer asks eBay to step in, but it will certainly grab the seller's attention, which judging by their feedback mere emails don't do.

It's unfortunate that, if it is the feedback already left, there isn't that option to let others know of another problem with the seller.

The OP can leave follow up feedback. Sure they can't leave a neutral or neg, but at least they can add something that others may read.

Unfortunately tippy that follow-up would be lost within a day or so onto the next page, and with the deluge of negs and neuts they have I'd say they probably wouldn't give a rats about it anyway, sad but true.

Jeesus, I hate how some of those very high volume sellers can nearly get away with murder and eBay just does SFA about it.........
