How can a seller continue to sell parts on eBay but never leave positive feed back for there

customers.

I thought it was compulsory for a seller to leave positive feed back once the customer had payed for the itiem.

In my honest opinion everything you just said, I believe is rubbish!! The whole feedback system is to tell other buyers what they should expect! Yes I understand that no single transaction is exactly the same but other buyers deserve to know what kind of condition they receive the package, was the item received within a reasonable time frame, was it described to the best of the seller's ability... now I also understand there are certain people out there who will leave negative feedback just because they are never happy, but if you look through that seller's feedback history you should be able to pick up some kind of trend.

A seller should be leaving feedback as soon as the item is paid for!! A buyer's job is to only pay for the item... why else would a seller leave any other feedback asides from the fact the person has paid?

If a buyer leaves neutral/negative feedback for whatever reason and the seller does the same only as retaliation... it's so childish!!!

you obviously do not know much about eBay and the feedback system at all

Sellers can only leave a positive f/b, the choice of neg or neutral for Sellers to leave was abolished more than 5 years ago.!!

eBay have their system set so that sellers can, if they want to, leave automatic feedback for a buyer, as soon as the buyer leaves a positive feedback for them,  ...  so obviously ebay think its OK for a seller to leave the fb as soon as they know the buyer is happy with ALL of the transaction.

if a buyers end of the deal is 'complete' when they pay, then following on from that, the sellers, in the opinion of some of those above here, should be 'complete' when they post, but we all know that is NOT the case.  no deal is 'complete' until both parties have completed the transaction to their satisfaction, including at times, return / refund / replacement / chasing up aust post etc.etc.etc.

And in my opinion, that statement is indicitave of someone having no respect for their fellow eBay members. 😞

eBay, in their wisdom, have given ALL their members the ability not only to choose IF they leave feedback, but when. In fact, if you go through their feedback tutorial, there's a question on there that asks

You paid for an item, but it hasn't yet arrived. Since you paid you expect the seller to leave feedback first. Should the seller leave feedback upon receipt of payment?

  1. Yes. Since you paid, the seller should leave feedback first
  2. No. The seller should wait until you leave feedback, signaling your satisfaction with the item and the transaction.
  3. No. The seller has automated part of the transaction process using auction management software so the seller should let the system leave the feedback based on the criteria they chose when they programmed the software.
  4. Each member may choose the best approach to leaving feedback for them.

What do you think is the right answer according to eBay?

It's 4: Each member may choose the best approach for leaving feedback for them

No one has the right to dictate to someone else if or when feedback "should" be left - not even eBay does that so why do you think you should? It is an individual decision. Now, you may not agree with when other members choose to leave feedback, or the reasons behind their decision, which is fine, obviously that's your perogative and the world would be a boring place if everyone thought the same way, but the world would be a better place if people respected other people's decisions whether they agreed with them or not. Smiley Indifferent

I understand how you would believe that the buyers side of a transaction is complete with payment. HOWEVER, there is more to both sides of the transaction than just payment and postage. FB is about the total experience of both sides buyer & seller. For me, I will not leave fb until I know my buyer has 1.received their item 2. is happy with it 3. if there are any issues we have resolved them to mutual satisfaction.

I consider the behaviour of a buyer as part of my experience as Seller in particular how a buyer conducts themselves during the resolution of any issues or misunderstandings. Also I have received some lovely messages from buyers once items have been received

and the fb I leave for those buyers is coloured very much by how great these people were to deal with. I dont like to give or receive thoughtless generic fb.
