I recently purchased a new Garmin Edge500 Cycling Computer on eBay. The computer developed problems within about one month of purchase. I tried to resolve these problems with the assistance of Garmin Australia, but eventually Garmin informed me that the unit should be replaced.... but that 'eBay purchases are definitely not covered under manufacturer's warranty'.
Has any other purchasers of Garmin products encountered this response from Garmin?
I cannot see how any new Garmin product purchased on-line via eBay or whatever, can result in the voiding of the warranty.

Not many manufacturers will or can honour a warranty on eBay simply because they can not be sure of the condition of an item sold outside of their own quality control. The only way would be if the seller is a registered distributor for the manufacturer.
