Global Shipping Program.....again

Why is there such a wide discrepancy in the cost of shipping by GSP for a similar item? Specifically, I am looking at buying a used computer (Dell To 7610) from the US. According to the search results, seller 1 charges $US1,232.61 postage, BUT his item description page says $US292.70! Seller 2, on the other hand only charges $US30.79 for a similar computer, which I find hard to believe!!

Where is the logic in all this?

Sorry tazzieterror if my excercising of free speech terrifies you. You'll just have to wait until the far right servants of big business have tightened the screws even tighter before free speech is silenced once and for all. Until then, you'll  just have to endure some of us excercising our freedoms.

FYI, samoaman is a new participant here and I am giving him a bit of an idea of what I went through.

They say you get what you pay for - by that measure yours is definitely free speech.

But I'd say you've exercised it enough now - it's your critical thought that seems out-of-shape and lethargic, an all too common condition amongst the vocal free-speechers.

As much as I mention the bad things about GSP, you're there to pounce on any new thread by (often) a new member mentioning the bad things about GSP, or some other issue ....  many, many, many, many, many times.....funny that! Smiley Wink.

Unfortunately 4channel therein lies the problems with your posts, you inavriably only point out the negative sides of the GSP, so it's up to other experienced members to give the other side of the story.

Well, given the ract that there is a small crew of bullies here (They seem to have quietened down now for some reason) and a couple that just don't like people to speak out against GSP, what I say evens it up.

Also people need to be aware that bidding and winning multiple items from the same seller means the buyer gets hit with multiple postage charges even though the seller packs them all in the same parcel. Also another party looks at what the buyer has when at the Pitney Bowes depot. This increases the risk of damage and theft.  And as you pointed out with that electric guitar some time back, Pitney Bowes can confliscate and then sell the item later on. What about the poor buyer who has wasted time out of his / her life and ended up with  nothing. Yeah, they'd be refunded later but that's not the point is it!

GSP is nothing but an arrogantly inserted middle man that makes buying difficult for many people, not to mention horrendously expensive.

Americans have the right to free speech. It's in their constitution. We don't have that "right", like they do. It amazes me how many people spout about their right to free speech. Been watching too many US TV shows me thinks.

And right here we have a member who you tried to spew your usual ranting to, saying he got a bargain with his large, bulky item being sent via GSP. Funny that. I see you've omitted to reply to him after that post.

LOL, Tipty Toe, Americans don't have the right to free speech. Smiley LOL  Yes it may be written into the consitution but that's nothing. Under Bush people were rounded up and harassed etc for speaking out.  Under the current bozo some of them could be forgiven for thinking if Mussolini wouldn't have been better,

I love it when you use key words like "Spew" etc. You're so great! Smiley Indifferent

BTW: There's nothing to reply to. I told him about the smaller items being  ultra expensive. He appeared to get his item sent for a bit cheaper than the other GSP quote. I'm happy for him. I just hope it arrives in good time and nothing goes wrong.

One thing that I just learnt, is that the simplest way to avoid being stung, is to add an item of interest to the cart. It will itemise postage, import charge, GST, etc. Should any of these amounts be on the nose, do not proceed to checkout. It really is as simple as that. Remember the old chestnut "Caveat Emptor"!

Very well put Samoa. Just a shame the GSP and everything else hater that replied to you can't see things the way you do. I've had some great deals from sellers using GSP. I've also been stung in the early days. I know how not to get ripped off by the GSP!
