I'd walk away from that seller. Imagine if something did go wrong.
Woman customer? If something goes missing in the mail, it goes missing, what does the buyer's gender have to do with it? Wow.
they do wish you the best though ๐

I am both a buyer and a seller on eBay. When I am buying I never try to tell a seller how to post, especially not overseas sellers. Can you post the original question you asked and the original reply you received?
It may just be me . . . . and probably is . . . . but the bit of your post that I have bolded above seems like you lecturing the seller. Was there any more to your question after the part I bolded? I only ask because many posters on these boards have got caught out before when posting and only having been given part of the story.
I'll leave it at that until I see the original question you asked the seller and their original response.

There may be +++ and .... and !!!! and using a lot of caps which is deemed uncool by many but I can't see where the seller is being abusive. They are just making it clear that they don't want to ship uninsured because they have been burnt before.

In the US, they can get third party insurance on their packages, which covers against loss or damage, it's not the same thing as something like PayPal or eBay seller / buyer protection, in fact it's generally better, because with eBay or PayPal, most of the time only one party doesn't lose their funds while the other one does. With insurance, the seller can refund / replace or whatever, in the event of loss or damage, and they don't lose anything.
I'm not excusing the seller's attitude, just trying to help show why - sans attitude - what they're actually saying, at least in regards to postage, is perfectly reasonable.

A buyer can ask if the seller is prepared to find a cheaper postage service but they have absolutely no right to try and tell the seller what service they should use or what cover they are prepared toshould provide. Any question like that should be asked prior to bidding and if the seller says no way (with or without capitals and explanation) then you accept that and don't bid.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?

I had clean forgotten about that, thanks for mentioning it. I have had a seller send something via First Class International but insured with "Shipsurance" and it was only about $1 per $100 of cover.

i think that maybe the OP bought it when the seller was enrolled in the GSP and then asked him to opt out of it for her purchase.
I don[t think that most US sellers know how to do that or even if it is possible without ending the listing and relisting without GSP.
The brothers over the sea are a bit keen on drama, though

It sounds to me as if the seller had already explained to you in an earlier email how they had been caught out before when they shipped without insurance.
Now you might be perfectly right about signed tracking, but the seller obviously wasn't familiar with it and not comfortable with it, they feel they would be taking a risk and they don't want to.
The message they sent was a little hard to follow ( till I read through it twice), but once you get past all the caps and ++++ etc, I don't think it was abusive as such.
They are basically telling you either you pay it as it is listed or else cancel your bid.
And if the item is still active, my guess is they perhaps aren't even suggesting a mutual cancellation, just you cancelling your bid.
