Hi,has any members had problems with the Global Shipping program. It would seem that another party has been added just to double our chances of a mistake. The contract is between buyer and seller on the ebay site and it is hard enough to recieve an item without damage and in a reasonable time without it being duplicated in the shipping process.Unable to contact the global Shipping Co so where do we get any help.

I have to agree with you. Like more & more buyers I refuse to purchase from Sellers who use the GSP. At some point you would think the Sellers will start to feel the drop in sales and let ebay know what they think..........I live in hope lol

I received a very-small item from middle-USA to Sydney Australia via Pitney Bowes GSP. Compared with normal USPS, it took at least a week longer and added about $20 to the shipping cost. The tracking report showed it had been delivered to Australia very quickly, but laid around at the local FedEx office not far from here for a week, while they firstly wasted a day on a totally unnecessary alleged customs clearance (for a $9 item????), then wasted another six days not actually putting it in a van to deliver it. Eventually they claimed there was nobody here to receive it (not true) and dropped it off at the local post office, where I could have collected it a week earlier and $20 cheaper, had the seller used USPS to begin with.
eBay is a very not-stupid business, so what is this ridiculous PB GSP innovation doing in an otherwise sensible business model?

Beware - don't touch any seller using the program. They send to the third party - who I might add REPACKAGE THE item and not very well. This is to make the item lighter for the purpose of cheaper costs for them. They also send via the cheaper US international service - so you may have paid say $50 for postage however your item will be sent via a service for approx $20.00 nice PROFIT for them - they also charge custom duties (Which we do not have in OZ) however still have to pay. TOTAL RIP OFF which puts profits in Ebays pocket - Check our who OWNS them or has a large piece of them.

we do indeed have Customs Duties in Australia but Pitney Bowes does not charge Customs Duties if they would not normally be payable. If the cost of the item is under AU$1000 then you are not charged anything. All you pay is the very high fee to PB for processing the paperwork.
Pitney Bowes in not owned by ebay either....they are in independent freight and logistics company.

C'mon, Lyndal. You've been around long enough to know that uninformed supposition should be taken as fact.

Sorry Dave, I forgot that the purpose of these boards was not to inform the uninformed but to regale members with fairy stories. I'll try to do better in future.

Not owned by Ebay but have been contracted by Ebay.

A significant difference.
