eBay's latest announcement
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/au/201310.shtml#2013-10-03113347
no more cheap perfumes / lotions/ items with lithium batteries / .... and more.... coming to Australia
and all parcels going thru scanning will really really slow things down, remembering a lot of Chinese sellers ship thru HK
How many eBay buyers are going to get caught out I wonder.
Yet another reason to 'shop locally' and support aussie eBayers.

Thankfully, none of the stuff I buy from OS, but I wonder how many dropshippers that will affect?

Recently the Hong Kong Post announced that all items posted by air are now subject to x-ray screening for regulated materials. This additional screening may cause delays in shipment due to no fault of the seller, so if you purchased an item from a seller in Hong Kong, please allow extra time for delivery - at least a week more than the seller's stated delivery time.
Also note that items containing the regulated materials are being returned directly to sellers and not delivered to the buyer. These items may include:
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Regards, The eBay Team
Given that many Asian sellers are already quoting up to 30 days delivery time,I'm guessing a lot of people will be stung if another week is supposed to be added EEK.

That's what I just mentioned to my OH,(the seller will say it's at least a week late because of that and then please wait
another week, which will make it past the 45 days),
If your item was returned to the seller, you should receive a refund.
I wonder how many wont get a refund,(by either getting strung along re: postage, lack of communcation or don't
know about the 45 days for PP protection),

Splendid news, I have little sympathy for those who order items containing lithium batteries from overseas as all countries are meant to stop them before they leave the country, you are unable to post anything with one from the UK using Royal Mail.
With Paypal buyer protection there is nothing stopping you opening a dispute within the stated delivery time so if that is 30 days you can still open the dispute bt give it 2 weeks instead of one before escalating to a claim.
I hope this will cut down on the number of people who buy cheap fake phones etc and then find themselves unable to return them without using an expensive, specialised courier service. I suspect though that there is no chance of China Post following in HK's footsteps so they may just ship their items over there in bulk and post them unimpeded.

Well that sucks about beauty products I buy Korean beauty products which are awesome and not really available here - why are they restricted will have to check where my sellers ship from
The way postage is going in all countries it seems they want to stop internet sales. i understand illegal stuff, lighters, lithium but seriously there are so many products unavailable to us here in Aust and if it is we totally get stung.
Postage conditions are getting out of hand, delays and customs are increasing and it really is spoiling biying online and saving money

I don't know how right I am, but with the cosmetics etc, I know that airports put big restrictions on things such as shamppos etc following 9/11, is there a chance that any of this has to do with the war on terrorism, not linked to restricting trade?
or maybe that's how they smuggle drugs these days? It used to be coffee, but seeing as everyone knows about that now, they had to find another way.

Lets hope this does something to stamp out the rampant "fake" designer perfumes that are rife on ebay au.
Buy from Aussie reputable Sellers & there are several. The disgusting fakes from all parts of Asia are filled with dreadful ingredients, would make your stomaches turn if I told you what has been found in them!

speaking of perfumes reta, do you know what's happening with Byzance? I used to be able to buy it, then it went awol, and now on the internet it's like 4 times the price? I can't find it in retail stores though which makes me a bit skeptical.
