A few more details wouldn't go astray...item number, for a start?

I suspect an item may be listed with free local postage but the buyer pays for long distance/overseas postage.
As you say, an item number would not go astray.

Yep. Could also be a listing from USA. Many advertise free shipping in the header, but charge for O/S postage. Happens regularly in my category.
OP...we await an item number. Bit hard to offer advice without details!

The bottom line, Ian, is that no postage is free. It really isn't. The seller is paying for it and has built an allowance for basic postage into the cost of the item.
So very few ads would or could include 'free' postage without some conditions.

Was it the cable connector or the velcro? The cable connector listing is a bit ambiguous as it says the postage is "free to $10". Not sure what they mean by that. It sounds like English is not their first language. It's saying $2 postage for me from Sydney to rural NSW.
The velcro says it's free to certain locations and there is a charge to other locations (WA, NT and the islands). It says in the description:
Please connect us for the postage first if you were buyers of westen Australia, the northern territory and on islands, as the postage varies according to the location. Free for buyers of other places as postage.
I reside in what they would be referring to as "of other places" and it's showing up as $1.50 postage for me. They haven't set up their listing properly to reflect the different postage costs. If you reside anywhere other than WA, NT or "the islands" contact them and remind them of their description and ask for them to remove the postage cost.
