How long should it take seller to refund

Over a week ago bought an item off ebay and paid through paypal immediately.  Seller is in the same state.  Description is more than 10 available.   Waited 4 days and contacted seller as I hadn't received item.  Seller informs me :on the Monday.

The demand for these have outstripped our supply, We will be receiving more of
these tomorrow and will be posted to all customers too. You should receive it by
friday this week!

On the Wednesday seller informs me:

Just courtesy emails to inform you the demand for our items have outstripped
our supply! We are currently waiting 2 weeks for stock to arrive, If you are
happy to wait we thank you very much and ensure you your item(s) will be sent
ASAP once landed here in store.
Otherwise, I am happy to offer a full refund
or you can have another item we stock which is ready to send!

I replied that I would like a refund (over $40)... Seller advises they will process ASAP.

How long should it take a seller to refund, just curious.   TIA

It depends on how courteous they are, and how busy.

Keep an eye on the 45 days from payment you have to start a claim through Paypal if you don't get it soon.

You'll receive an email from Paypal when you get your refund.

If they want your repeat business they'll process it quickly; I've had refunds take about three days to clear too, so bear that in mind as well.

It takes me 2 minutes of my time to process a refund to a buyer through PayPal.

I agree with truly, it only takes a couple of minutes at most to send a refund. If it is a large Seller with a big turnover they may have a dept that processes refunds but I would be chasing it up if I hadnt received it within 3 days.

I personally do refunds twice a week. I do around 20 per week (at a scheduled time), mostly because of inadvertently overpaid postage for multiple purchase items, but the occasional one for returned items that aren't exactly what the customer wanted etc. So do give them 3-4 days leeway on refunding. And as stated above, don't let it go over the 45 days...., in fact if it were me I'd be opening an item not received dispute now - you don't have to escalate straight away, but it just might jog their memory.

Thanks for your replies.  Have sent a message to seller requesting refund asap as they had advised.

They are still listing the item with more than 10 available.
